I've been working on little gumnut table, which has 3 legs at the base, gumnuts and leaves and when finished, will have a glass top, 41cm in diameter, nicely polished with bevelled edges.
The gumnuts and leaves are based on Marri trees, which are a native tree in the south west of Western Australia. The legs and glass supports have a hammered finish, which adds a really nice texture to the piece. The glass top will rest on the curled leaves, and the end of the stem will hold the glass in place. I'm really happy with how it's going, I've found a bit of learning experience, figuring out the materials and getting a grip on the methods. When it's finished, this piece should sell for about $460 (glass is so expensive, bit of a shock that). >>click image to enlarge.
